However, it is possible (and in-fact likely) that your child has little or no experience with the game at all and would like to start learning it with us, for such students we have carefully tailored the Rule of Chess - 1A program as explained below.

Rules of Chess - 1A

For complete beginners, we have developed a comprehensive 5 months course that will teach your child the fundamentals of chess in the right way. The objective of the course is to teach every student how to think like a professional chess player. For an art to be mastered, the fundamentals have to be sound and we understand the importance of this at GEMS.

Chess  Classes / Chess Lessons at Gems Learning Institute

We at GEMS follows a very structured and set curriculum developed by the Chess Experts. It comprises of three modules, foundation, intermediate and Advance. Kids attend a 1 and half hours class, once a week. First hour is pure lesson through expert Chess coaches and in the next hour they play tournament style games which further gets reported to Canadian Chess Federation of Canada.

Why Chess?

As a parent, you might be wondering why should your son or daughter invest his or her time into learning a board game? Well, chess is more than just a board game. It is an ancient art that infuses logic and creativity in a beautiful way. A seasoned chess player's brain is, in a sense, comparable to a seasoned athlete's body. Playing and learning chess on a regular basis can improve memory, attention, spatial cognition, arithmetic comprehension, planning abilities and a variety of other aspects of psychological development.

Chess is all about thinking strategically and foreseeing consequences. It is about lines and angles, weighing option and making decision.  Studies shows the positive impact on kids in elementary, middle and high school.

Benefits of playing Chess

1. Brain Development.
2. Improves concentration and memory.
3. Enhances reading and math skills
4. Fosters logic, critical thinking, and creativity.
5. Problem Solving Skills.
6. Decision Making
